Exactly 280 years ago, the Danish sailor Vitus Bering braced himself for a daring adventure: in 1728 he set sail for an almost unknown area of the Arctic Ocean. On his journey he crossed the straits which would later be named the Bering Strait in his honour. Vitus Bering was the first European to discover Alaska and it is here that one of the four time zones bears his famous name: Bering Time!<\/h3>\n

Treading new ground, venturing into unknown territory: the Danes Vitus Bering and Rene Kaerskov link these ideas with the BERING brand. This is the only way in which a vision can become reality. And so the brand BERING is successfully made up of the perfect combination of extraordinarily hard materials and an extremely slim design.<\/h3>\n

The Arctic means a lot to founder Michael Witt Johansen from Denmark, as his father traveled to Greenland and the Faroer Islands as a salesman for more than 25 years, bringing stories and images from there which have been a very important part of his life.<\/h3>\n

His trips to Greenland enabled him to create great memories by experiencing the spectacular nature.<\/h3>\n

A cornerstone of the BERING story is Michael Witt Johansen\u2018s friend and cofounder Ren\u00e9 Kaerskov who parachute\u00a0jumped on the North Pole. The purpose for this jump was to raise public awareness for the global warming by promoting the \u201cEarth Hour<\/em>\u201d.<\/h3>\n

When Ren\u00e9 sent Michael his photos from his journey to the Northpole, it was two stories coming together to one idea. It\u2019s BERING Time!<\/h3>\n

Michael Witt Johansen and his former business partner Lars Gram- Skj\u00f8nnemann started developing the BERING Design Concept \u201einspired by arctic beauty\u201c.
